Product Reviews for Motor Mount Inserts DIYMMI

My Honda Ridgeline eats through rear motor mounts. I decided to order a new one, and fill the empty space between the mount rubber and the metal mount casing with this urethane. I mixed it per instructions (BY WEIGHT, NOT BY VOLUME!!!) The part was cured in 24 hours and ready to install. I however waited a full 7 days for full cure prior to install. The rear mount on my vehicle is directly above the exhaust pipe, so time will tell if this urethane can stand up to the heat. So far so good. I believe the heat is what causes the OEM mounts to break down. \nOverall I love this product, and will use to strengthen all other mounts!
5 out of 5 - Good product, cures quickly with proper mix ratio
Instructions were straight forward and easy to comprehend. Used this polyurethane for control arm bushings on a mk5 jetta. Looks like I might have had enough left over to pour a second pair of bushings.

Graduations on containers would be nice for mixing multiple batches .I had to discard 2/3 of material due to time constraints . I like the product .
5 out of 5 - Easy to use ,just wish I could have mixed a small batch .

Product is great, application is pretty straight forward and very detailed in the instructions. Product was a bit thinner than expected and took a good time to set. I poured test strips and would highly recommend waiting 4-7 days for a good cure before installing as the test strip were a bit weak 48 after cure but very strong and almost impossible to tear by hand. I ordered the 80A because Im hard on my vehicle and was willing to trade the vibration for performance, reliability and longevity. I would recommend 60A for most daily drivers or those who just want a stiffer mount.
5 out of 5 - very satisfied with the product

I modified the front motor mount on my Chrysler Town and Country. Much better throttle response at the cost of added vibration at idle in gear, which seems to have lessened over time. It feels more like a truck now, definitely not for everyone. I bought this to modify some mounts for my PT Cruiser Turbo with A/T to be softer than the solid urethane mounts in it now. I will install them when I change the timing belt. Its nice to have the option of making softer or harder mounts as desired.

Turned out to be easier than I thought. Very easy to follow and had detailed instructions. Sandbox made it easy to handle and cured in a day. Thanks.

After two years, the motor mounts that I filled with this polyurethane are still going strong. I love the way the car responds and Im happy I went with this product

Used on 4 motor mounts, installed at different intervals. The first two were installed after only sitting a couple of days. They eventually showed signs of cracking/etc, but for the most part they are filled. Of the other two, one mount I had ordered online and received the wrong one, so I couldnt use it.... but the mount I installed on the car after hardening for a month is still as strong/solid as day one. \nNext time Ill clean em a bit more, and wait longer before installing, but I definitely recommend this to everyone. My engine sounds different, there is more vibration but my shifting is greatly improved; a must have mod imo.

Great product. Used in my old motor/transmission mount. They were rotted thru. Made a jig, pour these over. Let cure. Re-install like a champ!
5 out of 5 - Would use for a lot of things
I got the DIYMM for my torque mount on my 2014 Sonic RS. I used the 80 and its great! At first I felt all kinds of vibrations but after 1000 or so miles it started to fad away. I still have some vibrations but not much. Hardly noticeable unless my AC is on at idle. Motor movement is now minimal. I tuned and did a couple things to the car which caused the motor to move a lot when I was driving around city, but now its great. I do recommend to any one looking for a cheaper proformance upgrade. I do recommend cutting out parts of the original mount that can be cut out. I wanted to have as much of the filler in there as I could fit. I gave it a 4 rating because it comes with a lot and I wish it was less so I could just fill one mount at a time and not waste more than half of what came.
4 out of 5 - Great!

I made a solid mount from my existing SRT-4 trans mount. I used some wax as a release agent, some foil tape to seal/form transitions and a plastic yogurt lid for the bottom. I had some leakage, but if I was to do it again, I would seal the tape joints with wax on the outside. I also used a mill to cut more of my OEM insert down so I could get more DIYMMI in the mount. Seeing that I made a very large solid mount, I would have gone with the softer product to mute some of the vibration, which was my fault. I like the DIYMMI and will use it again. I also only used half as not recommended, but I weighed each part out on a scale to make user I got the correct blend.

I would have loved to give a review, but the material was not going to work for my application. The swaybar links on my 2001 excursion are more complex then anticipated!

The product is easy to work with and the money i spent as far as making the motor mounts better. I would recommend this product for anyone that wants to stiffen up their motor mounts, but is on a budget or cannot justify spending 3-4x the amount on pre-made aftermarket ones. Just follow the instructions and youll have a product that turned out great too.

Hi, yes I used them, wasted some of the material as instructions where limited. I discovered that if you let it set up some it will make pouring into old motor mount better and will stay where you put it. I used it too soon so a lot of the material ran out and was lost. I did get the 2 most important mounts to take and actually came out well. They are in the car I am driving now and seem to work good. I will buy and use this product again when I need to. I would recommend putting better car use motor mount instructions in there. I would recommend this product to my friends

For those that are tired of replacing side torque engine mounts this diy kit makes it easy to fill your mounts for a permanent solution. Just make sure to clean the mounts properly and set them in sand while they set overnight. Initial results are great although they will add a slight increase in cabin vibration and should be considered when filling your mounts. The performance gains are noticeable with very minimal side to side engine movement resulting in increased traction.
5 out of 5 - Great product

Takes a while to do this right and set everything up, but the outcome is nice! I did my rear diff mount with 80A and have no problems. Its a money saver when some mounts cost $200+

very efficiency for my silent block strengthening. Good product!
5 out of 5 - very good product and efficiency
The concept behind the DIY motor mounts was a huge help! I followed most of the DIY procedure listed on this website when pouring the bushing in the transmission mount on my 2013 Mustang GT. I did vary a little bit though in that I had a jig custom made to hold the mount in place while I poured the bushing. The quality of the liquid polyurethane product far exceeded my expectations and was very easy to work with. Note: It was necessary to use a mold release in order to separate the transmission mount from the jigs backing plate. I used a carnauba paste wax for the mold release.

The liquid urethane worked well and was easy to use. There was enough for the rear links and front swaybar links of my Pathfinder.

I used this material to fill the rear upper shock mounts on a Ford Focus. I used the soft version, and it worked perfectly to eliminate the air gap, but leave some road isolation in place. I used just enough to fill the mounts, so I have a bunch left over for future projects.

Very easy to mix and pour,it was enough to pour 2 mounts. I used the 60A formula,Seemed really solid and hard and rubbery but when I installed it,My car ran great and not a rough ride at all. I would recommend this product

This product was exactly as described on website. I would really like it if urethane was available in a quality twice this size. Overall I will definitely buy again. Thanks for making a product like this available for the common person.

The liquid urethane worked very well. I was able to do 3 motor mount on my Dodge Spirit R/T and there was enough leftover to do at least one more if I needed. You cant store it so you have do it all at one time. Preparation is everything.

I haven't got them installed yet but they are made and fully cured. They look great and are rock sold. Made 3 out of my 4 mounts and could have made the 4th just didn't want to. Great product at a great price I highly recommend this to anyone who want a cheaper alternative to mount inserts.
5 out of 5 - essy to do... rock solid mounts...

I installed this on a 2007 Ford Freestyle and a Ford ZX2. It exceeded my expectation. I have more power getting to the wheels and less movement in the motor and trans assembly. The ZX2 does know have a slight vibration from the stiffer mounts but I have noticed that it is lessoning every day. I don't expect it to fully go away but for what I was needing it is perfect.
5 out of 5 - very good

I received the product promptly, within 2 days of ordering. I followed the instructions on the website and made sure I had the extra supplies.(Duct Tape, Contact Cement, Industrial Degreaser, and Sand in a box)I removed the mounts, cleaned them really good with a scrub brush and the degreaser, then contact cemented and duct taped one side of the mounts. I then set the mounts in an old plastic box I filled with sand. One tip I might add here is to make sure your box fits the mount entirely, I had to rig up a brace outside of the box and build up the sand so one of the mounts was level. The mount in question was the top torque mount on a 2007 Ford Five Hundred, which is a giant metal bracket with a small round mount at the top. Just be aware of the size of your work space compared to the part you're working on and it will be a lot easier. After the mounts were placed and level(verified with an actual level) I mixed up the pre-measured hardener in the can the urethane came in, making sure to follow the mixing instructions also on the website. Then slowly poured into my mounts to ensure good coverage and no air bubbles. The cure instructions say to wait 48 hours before re-installing the mounts. I have read some installations that were fine after 1 day but I was able to leave mine for 2 days straight. If possible just wait the two days to be sure. After re installation I did notice way more vibration in the steering wheel and dash than before, even considering the shoddy state of the mounts before this repair. I used the 80A durometer version of this kit. If you're looking for silky smooth stock like performance and vibration levels, go with the softer 60A kit. The amount of compound your given could easily fill 3 or 4 mounts the size of hockey pucks. I didn't know what to do with the rest so I poured it into an aluminum food warming dish and made a urethane plate, just to see what the stuff was like! The only recommendation I would make to Energy Suspensions is to include that list of recommended supplies or a link to a webpage with a pdf or easily downloadable/printable instructions. Luckily I have a laptop I don't mind getting bit grungy so I was looking at the website while doing all of this. Having said that and knowing that its 2012, not everyone has easy access to a computer. In the end this was the most painless way I could have possibly repaired my cars torque mounts. Even with all of the extra materials I had to buy, I still paid a fraction of the cost of a new top torque mount for my car and I was able to repair my bottom torque mount at the same time! So grab a couple of cars worth of torque mounts, have everyone pitch in for the materials, and spend a weekend hanging out while your mounts set. You could seriously save yourself some cash and have a really effective mod at the same time. Plus its a great excuse to sit back and drink beer for two days.... Sorry "otherhalf," cant go anywhere, my mounts are setting...
5 out of 5 - Absolutely Awesome Product

Overall a great product. My experience with it was interesting in that I wasted the first can due to not having taped it up well enough. After producing results I wanted from this, I offered using this product to people I know, not just for motor mounts but also transmission mount. There is not transmission mounts inserts for early 94's. I've been making these as well.
5 out of 5 - great!

The product came with easy to read instructions and went well. My blown out mount hasn't given me any trouble since and this saved me a lot of trouble because my car is old and has mismatched parts making it hard to find new replacement parts. This eliminated that problem.
5 out of 5 - nailed it!
John Paul Landry - . DST DIYMMI
Worked exactly as advertised and stated in instructions. Only mistake I made (which is not addressed in instructions or reviewer comments) was not putting one of the motor mounts in its mounting bracket prior to using this material - as a result the mount was not squish-able enough to fit inside the bracket so we had to drill holes in it to create enough room.
5 out of 5 - excellent

This product is great just follow the instructions and everything will be ready for use in a few days, in my case the place in the sun for 2 days and the finish was fantastic, some vibrations but nothing major Thanks.

I use one of these kits on my sons motor mounts, once it's fully cured even the soft formula is fairly stiff. The down side is that it took 4-5 days to cure completely. I believe that's the main problem some are having with it; it's not fully cure when they reinstall the mounts.
5 out of 5 - good product!
I've heard people complain about vibration. but i have the 94a and it's not that bad. When I first put in the urethane into my mounts, it was harsh. But the mounts have broken in and there is still some vibration. But compared to my old rubber mounts...no contest. These are way better. Shifting is better. Power to the ground is nicer. The motor doesn't rock like it used to when the old mounts were in. But if you really don't want vibration and you're just looking to have something last for a very long time, I'd say go with the 60a.
5 out of 5 - love it

This product and this company are both great to work with! A little time and prep and less than $40 and I've got 3 solid mounts that look and function as good or better than anything I could have purchased new! Mix it up. Pour it in and the next day, bolt em on looking just like in the picture! AWESOME!!!!!

I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH THIS PRODUCT. I will never again buy new motor mounts. The reason I bought these was because I bought new o.e autozone parts. They were too soft. My intake manifold was hitting the firewall. Mind you, these are new out of the box mounts. New one from the dealership where too expensive, so I bought the polymer kit, and wow. I told all my friends on socal honda tuner, and they were impressed too. Follow the directions, and they will look as good as their own pictures. Great product and great price in my opinion. For an oe ride I would go with their softest one they carry. I bought the mid-level and my little crx gets all the H.P. down to the wheels....
5 out of 5 - lets just say WOW!
inda ceja - . DST DIYMMI
This is a great way if you cannot find mounts or inserts to toughen everything up. Follow the directions exactly. I had no problems with the procedure. Awesome. The only thing I recommend if your mounts are old and flex to begin with then get new ones and then do the procedure with the polyurethane. It also works better because there is less down time with the vehicle. Take the old out and install the new ones and your on your way. I installed it on a 1996 nissan altima and used the mid grade stiffness. Didn't result in anymore vibrations that I didn't have before. Thank you for coming up with something like this it wasn't hard to do and worked fantastic. Would def. recommend to any one.

Yes I have installed the DIYMMI on 3 different cars (3 kits) - Honda CRX 1987 AS53 - Honda CRX 1989 ED9 - Honda Civic 1994 EG4 All is working very well... in 60A. I chose, as I use these cars every day, that rating of hardness. It is a quiet good compromise between Comfort & Performance. Actually, you have the engine "present" inside the car when @idle, when you are on road @different rev speeds, it is really OKAY ! Whereas for the performance, you don't have, mainly on little engines like D15B2 (1.5 16v 90hp), any losses of power or, and it is the best : torque ! The engine and transmission is in DIRECT contact with the road; there is no lag between the moment that you push your pedal and the moment that you feel the torque pushing you in the back of your seat. This liquid urethane is easy to install, the only difficulty is to dismount them from the engine bay, you have to attach all your motor group. Just followed the electronic manual available on energy suspension parts website, but did not use any sand, only scotch ! Made some pics of the installation on a topic that I maintain for my OLD CRX : http://www.japancar.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?t=156895&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=30 Feel free to ask any question. PS : Im French.

I have a 91 Mazda 626 turbo hatchback, for which only Mazda seemed to have the proper right-side motor mount, and it cost too much for my taste. The instructions that came with the poly material were spot on; I did what the instructions said and the results were perfect. I chose the 60 durometer material because this is a daily driver, and Ive noticed no increase in vibration, but the motor no longer tries to torque itself out of the car. I only wish Id pulled the left-side mount and filled it at the same time. -- BJ
5 out of 5 - Works absolutely as advertised.
I have recommended this upgrade on my civic forums. It was night and day. I had bad wheel hop before and now all I have is acceleration! Will be back for the full suspension kit. Thanks for the good service.
5 out of 5 - this is the best upgrade i have installed!

Easy to install and cheaper than buying new mounts. This is actually better than mount inserts. You don't get that annoying squeak.

comes in can and appears a little stiff untill you add the activator. i used it to fill motor and swingarm bushings on my 2006 XL883c harley davidson. a common complaint is the added engine and swing arm movement of the rubber mount sportsters. now it is like the soild mount bikes of the previous years and still has a very little more buzz than the stock mounts.
5 out of 5 - A+ many uses
julius long - . DST DIYMMI
The product is great...as firm as i wanted it to be ( 94A ) way to firm for street tho. Only down side: you have to work fast with the product...and if i would have to do it again i would drill some holes in the rubber of the original mount to help the product to go trough and fill up the motor mount faster and easier. But overall is easy to use and the result is amazing. I just have to see if it lasts long enough now with all the drag racing those motor mount are seeing right now !
