What is the Difference Between Moog R Series and CK Control Arms?

CK, K or RK? We here at Diverse Suspension Technologies get this question a whole lot. If you are putting parts on your vehicle, you want to know exactly what you are installing. It can be hard to do that with all of these letter designations. So here is all that you need to know to clear up the confusion.

Short Answer: R Series is a value-driven replacement part while the CK Series incorporates Moog's premium Problem Solver components for a better than OE upgrade.

CK (K): Moog Problem Solver

Starting with the CK and K. Whether you see a "K" designation or a "CK" designation, you are getting the same part. The CK and K are Moogs Premium line of control arms. Utilizing their "problem solver" technology, these control arms address common factory design issues providing a better than the original replacement for your vehicle. Most CK and K control arms include ball joints that are powder coated metal with gusher bearings giving them a long life. Many of these ball joints are serviceable and have grease fittings. The CK and K arms also have problem solver bushings and a precise fit and form for easy installation.

RK: Moog R Series

The RK series is a more value-driven part. Because there are so many different vehicles both foreign and domestic, Moog has introduced the R-Series arms to provide replacements for a wide range of vehicles. The RK arms have OE fit and form geometry alignment, with pre-installed OE style bushings and most include the ball joints. However, these ball joints are not serviceable like the CK arms. All of the R Series arms have Moog validated construction and design, providing a less expensive alternative.

Type and Warranty

Each line of control arms has Forged Steel, Stamped Steel, or Forged Aluminium arms to provide the best style for your specific vehicle. The Premium CK line has a limited lifetime warranty, and the RK has a 3 year warranty that are both handled through our awesome customer service team at DST. Whether you are looking for a "light on the wallet" OE replacement, or a "premium" control arm upgrade, Moog control arms are a great choice for your vehicle.

What does offset bushings mean. and i need a control arm that does not put the ball joint in a sharp angle because of a 6 inch lift.
Answer:
The bushings in the control arms where the bolts go through the center. The holes in the offset bushings do not go through the center. This will allow for more camber/caster adjustment. Question:
I plan on putting four inch lift in my truck but I also need new upper control arms . Gentlemen what would you suggest?
Answer:
If it is a spindle lift the moog-rk80826 would be ok. With a lifted GM pickup with a spindle lift I would use the moog-ck80826. It has the Problem Solver ball joint which is a better ball joint than what is used in the RK series. If it is not a spin ndle lift you may have to use an aftermarket arm. If the upper ball joint is 1-2 inches below the control arm bushings (sitting on the ground) you would have to use an aftermarket control arm that repositions the ball joint. ...see more

Question:
I currently have a leveling kit installed on my 2003 Tahoe and my ball joints will need to be replaced. I have lifted my front end 3 inches approx. and I was wondering which one of your control arms you would recommend for me. I was considering going with one of the more expensive options like Cognito or kryptonite but I feel like that would be overkill. Do you have an upper control arm that you recommend for lifted applications?
Answer:
I would use the CK Moog control arm. It has a Moog greaseable upper ball joint. If you are having issues setting with the Camber/Caster I would use the CK80826 with the offset control arm bushings. If the Camber/Caster can be set to OEM specs use CK8 80942. For lifted GM trucks if the upper ball joints is below the control arm bushings by 2 or more inches I would use the aftermarket control arms that reposition the upper ball joint. ...see more

Question:
Will these work with 3 inch torsion bar key leveling kit ?
Answer:
Look at your OEM control arms. While the vehicle is on the ground look to see if the upper ball joint is below the upper control arm bushings. If the ball joint is 1-2 inches below the bushings you would need a aftermarket control arm that reposition ns the ball joint. ...see more
