DIYMMI Do It Yourself Motor Mount Inserts - Liquid Urethane

"Do It Yourself" Motor Mount Inserts Kit

Includes: Urethane + Instructions

(kit includes Liquid Urethane and Digital Instructions - mounts shown above are a sample of mounts completed with this product)

Why Use Motor Mount Inserts?

 - Increase Horsepower to the Ground

 - Reduced Wheel Hop

 - More Responsive Motor

The first and foremost reason for firming up your motor mounts is to hold the engine more firmly in place. Often the more pliable stock motor mounts will allow the engine to move too much - resulting in wheel hop and a loss of power. The more extreme version of this is when a an owner has increase the vehicle's horsepower more than the stock motor mounts were meant to handle. This can cause tearing the stock motor mounts as well as damage to the engine and engine bay should the engine be allowed too much movement.

Will This Kit Work on My Motor Mounts?

The mounts you're working with MUST have voids in them like the mounts shown here. These voids are what you will be filling with urethane. Without voids - there is nothing to fill! Most FWD vehicles will have several mounts designed like this.

Which Mounts Should I Use?

Most FWD vehicles have several different motor mounts - typically from 4-5 mounts. Some of the motor mounts are designed significantly different from the others. TORQUE mounts are the motor mounts designed to reduce the amount of engine movement when power is applied. Main Mounts are the mounts designed to support and hold the weight of the engine.

TORQUE mounts are the most effective mounts at providing a great rigidity to the engine assembly without transmitting as much natural vibration to the driver. Torque mounts are typically located at the front and or rear of the engine. Main mounts are typically located higher on the engine assembly as the engine weight usually hangs from these.

While it is typically possible to firm up all the mounts on a vehicle - the torque mounts will provide the best trade off of performance and vibration.

What is Required to complete this Project?

Liquid Urethane - available in 60A, 80A or 94A - (select your desired hardness level below)

The following items are not included in this kit and must be purchased at a local hardware store. These can be purchased for approximately $10

Duct Tape - Seals one side of the mount

Contact Cement - Helps the duct tape seal against greasy surfaces

Degreaser - Cleans the mount of grease and oil to ensure an easy project

Sand - in a box - vital to the project - don't skip this one.

What Level of Hardness should I use?

There are a number of firmness or "durometer" levels offered. The default is 80A as it's the most used and most popular. These are:

60A - For the Daily Driver - This is the softest formula offered that will still make a noticeable difference in vehicle performance. This softer formula is best for tuners that still want to increase performance without trading off as much personal comfort.

80A - Even trade off between performance and vibration when it comes to motor mount inserts. This formula is the most popular for it's ability to significantly increase vehicle performance while still allowing some small amount of flex in the mounts to keep vibration and noise to reasonable levels

94A - Race Quality - Not for the daily driver. This formula is the hardest of the 3 available. Providing the best reduction in motor movement - this version will also allow a rather significant amount of engine vibration to be transmitted into the vehicle.

Is one kit enough to complete my project?

One kit includes 1 lb of the Liquid Urethane. On most vehicles this will be enough to complete the project on ALL the mounts on a vehicle.

What Kind of Quality Urethane is included?

This kit includes 1 lb of the highest grade liquid urethane available for a project like this. This product has been proven to work well for creating motor mount inserts and lasting for the life of the mount.

Great product

Used the 94A to fill the trans mount on my 05 GTO since we have no poly inserts available,it made a dramatic difference, the shifter moves much less under hard accel....the vibration increase is there but if you have a pair and are a man it will not bug you

Product is excellent, only thing that could be better is product drying time. Product gets stiff very slowly. Thanks, Esa

awsome product

The product is great...as firm as i wanted it to be ( 94A ) way to firm for street tho. Only down side: you have to work fast with the product...and if i would have to do it again i would drill some holes in the rubber of the original mount to help the product to go trough and fill up the motor mount faster and easier. But overall is easy to use and the result is amazing. I just have to see if it lasts long enough now with all the drag racing those motor mount are seeing right now !

A+ many uses

comes in can and appears a little stiff untill you add the activator. i used it to fill motor and swingarm bushings on my 2006 XL883c harley davidson. a common complaint is the added engine and swing arm movement of the rubber mount sportsters. now it is like the soild mount bikes of the previous years and still has a very little more buzz than the stock mounts.

Very good stuff.

The liquid urethane did the job and made my mounts nice and firm. So 5 out of 5. Also it was very easy to use with little mess. Definitely recommended.

great

Easy to install and cheaper than buying new mounts. This is actually better than mount inserts. You don't get that annoying squeak.

this is the best upgrade i have installed!

I have recommended this upgrade on my civic forums. It was night and day. I had bad wheel hop before and now all I have is acceleration! Will be back for the full suspension kit. Thanks for the good service.

Works absolutely as advertised.

I have a 91 Mazda 626 turbo hatchback, for which only Mazda seemed to have the proper right-side motor mount, and it cost too much for my taste. The instructions that came with the poly material were spot on; I did what the instructions said and the results were perfect. I chose the 60 durometer material because this is a daily driver, and Ive noticed no increase in vibration, but the motor no longer tries to torque itself out of the car. I only wish Id pulled the left-side mount and filled it at the same time. -- BJ

Disappointed

All in all I was not impressed with this product, far from the strong polyurethane mounts you buy ready made this stuff set in a way that it looks solid but tears and squashes too easily. I used the entire tin of urethane and hardener so I could not have got the mixing ratios incorrect either. On the car it was only a matter of days before the product was being forced out of its location in the mounting voids by the stresses of engine movement through normal driving.

not worth it

i bought 2 anchor motor mounts for my step daughters ford contour.these cars have a bad problem with breaking mounts so i wanted them to last.i filled them up the filler and let them set for 2 days and installed them.i checked them 2 days after installation and teh urethane had already starteding.i replaced them with ford mounts(over $250 for the two) and they are still lasting strong. i wont use the filler anymore.
