2010-2020 Toyota 4Runner, GX460 | Front Control Arm Bushings
Polyurethane front control arm bushings from Energy Suspension can give your Toyota 4Runner or Lexus GX460 a more stable connection between the wheels and the chassis. Worn original front control arm bushings allow movement in the control arm and can affect steering, handling, and tire wear.
Unreliable Rubber Bushings
The original front control arm bushings on your Toyota or Lexus are made of rubber which flexes a lot with suspension movement to absorb vibration from the road. While this makes for a smoother ride the degree to which rubber bushings flex will eventually change their shape until they are hollowed out and unable to hold the control arm in alignment anymore. This can destabilize wheel alignment and cause steering issues or wander and uneven wear on the tires.
Longevity and Durability
Polyurethane control arm bushings are a good fit for a 4Runner that spends some time on rough roads or off road since the excessive suspension movement of bumps and jolts will not cause permanent shape change in the bushing like the original rubber. While these bushings do allow some more vibration to make its way to the cabin the benefits of stable wheel alignment and tire wear eclipse the moderate road-feel increase for most people. Besides the stability features that poly bushings provide they also have a lifespan around 5 times longer than rubber bushings. Road salts common in colder areas or the salty air of costal climates can accelerate the disintegration of rubber bushings but polyurethane is all but impervious to these environmental factors.
If your original bushings are shot and you need a longer lasting replacement, or you want to upgrade the the wheel alignment holding capabilities of your 4Runner or GX460, then polyurethane front control arm bushings from Energy Suspension is the way to go.
