Typically, Energy Suspension motor mount inserts are mounted in the "torque mount" location of the vehicle. The two piece motor mount insert set is designed to be used in conjunction with the original motor mount. This design adds strength and toughness to the stock motor mounts. How Do Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts work with Torn Motor Mounts?
Many typical motor mounts are made with voids in the rubber area of the motor mount. The voids in the rubber motor mount allow the engine and transmission some range of movement. Over time, the rubber inserts wear down and begin to tear, allowing the engine too much movement and setting the engine out of alignment with the motor mounts. Energy Suspension motor mount inserts fill those voids in the OEM motor mounts. Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts help to realign the motor by suspending the mounting point in the correct center of the OEM motor mount. By only filling the voids that are SUPPOSED to be empty, Energy Suspension's motor mount inserts ensure that your motor mounts will stay aligned as they cannot move out out place.
Do Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts cause more vibration?
If your OEM motor mounts are new, then Motor Mount Inserts will likely increase the amount of engine vibration felt in the vehicle. Because the voids in the OEM Motor Mount are filled by these motor mount inserts - there is less room for absorption of the natural motor vibration.
However, in the case of some older vehicles with motor mounts that are in bad shape, Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts can actually reduce the amount of vibration felt from the motor. When motor mounts get old enough, the mounting point for the mount can sag or tear to the point where it's touching the surrounding edge of the motor mount. This means that there is little to no cushioning between the motor and the rest of the mount; this can cause a lot more vibration by itself. Installing Energy Suspension's motor mount inserts can increase the amount of cushioning in motor mounts that have gotten that bad and ensure that the motor wont flop about freely due to worn mounts.
How Do Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts Reduce Wheel Hop?
Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts are best known for their ability to reduce wheel hop and allow high performance vehicles to put more power into propelling the car forward. Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts operate with the same principles as Solid Motor Mounts. Many ultra high performance vehicles use solid motor mounts because they allow for very little motor movement. Because the motor is held firmly in place, there is no bouncing of the motor assembly. This allows the entire driveline assembly to maintain a solid geometry, reducing the excess movement caused by the otherwise violent release of power.
Basically, Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts offer the same performance of a solid motor mount, but without the extreme levels of vibration caused by a solid motor mount.
Can Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts Increase the Handling of my vehicle?
Because OEM Motor Mounts are designed with extra play and movement in their flimsy rubber motor mount inserts, adding Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts can firm up a number of otherwise loose points in the car. It's easier to compare this effect to installing a strut tower bar. The purpose of that bar is to increase rigidness in points of the vehicle that are otherwise more open to movement in high performance handling. The same is true for Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts. Motor Mount Inserts firm up points at the front of the vehicle that would otherwise be prone to movement in high performance driving.
