8.7106 | Rear Track Arm Bar Bushings | 1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner
Track Arm Bar Bushings 1996-2002 2WD/4WD 4Runner
These Polyurethane Track Arm Bushings from Energy Suspension will replace the original, soft rubber bushings in your 96-02 4Runner 2WD/4WD. These track bar bushings will better hold the alignment of your rear axle which will help stabilize your steering and control lateral movement.
The Weakest Link
The track arm (track bar, panhard bar) helps to keep the axle aligned by connecting the axle and the chassis and controlling vertical movement. The track bar is solid metal and will take a real beating before you can bend it, but the soft rubber track bar bushings that actually form the connection points between the axle - track bar - chassis are not nearly as tough.
Rubber track bar bushings are a real weak spot in your 4Runner's rear suspension, which at the very least can cause annoying clunking noises or even allow lateral movement. This can make steering difficult since the side-to-side movement of the axle can cause rear steering. If you enjoy taking your 4Runner out on the trail or even some of the dirt roads around Stephenville, Texas things are probably going to get bouncy and those rubber bushings die a little bit each time the rear suspension travels.
Replace or Upgrade?
When it comes time to replace those original bushings you can get some OEM rubber which will restore your ride quality but leave you in the same situation somewhere down the road. If you want a bushing that will stand the test of wear and time right alongside your 4Runner then you should check out Energy Suspension's polyurethane track bar bushings. Polyurethane is a much more durable material than rubber and can keep that track bar firmly connected to the axle and chassis, reducing lateral movement.
Another advantage of these bushings is the impressive lifespan difference between polyurethane and rubber. Rubber does not stand up against the elements that accompany normal driving, so off-roading really gives them trouble when it comes to longevity. Polyurethane is nearly immune to rough use as well as heat, road salts, and the other debris that will get thrown around under your 4Runner.
Polyurethane bushings should last the life of your vehicle and we here at DST back that claim up with our exclusive lifetime warranty on these Energy Suspension track bar bushings.
