The outer shells are difficult to make and it would add a significant amount of money to the kit.

Buy it, no need to research further. Ive used Energy Suspension parts on many cars in the past, and most recently on my 2000 Civic. Install is pretty basic. These inserts will protect your OEM mounts from shredding. The also add a subtle but noticeable firmness when shifting or even at idle when the car is still. Barely any NVH added at all, though Ive only done 2 of the 5 mounts. Well worth the price.

overall the product is ok. the directions have issues. body mount position 5 does not exist, it is located above the rear axel up in the wheel well. position 3 has no hardware? how is that going to work, the original mounts had hardware holding them in. the illustration for positions 2-6 are shown inverted, which can throw you off. i wish there was a bottom piece and mounting hardware for position 3 so i could secure it. otherwise i would give product a 5 rating

Bought these for my SnapOn creeper and upgraded to some sealed abec 9 bearings from amazon before installing and they are now literally my favorite (tool) i no longer get frustrated all day when i hit dirt or gravel or even small zipties. They live up to their name hyperglide. Only downside is if i get off my creeper sometimes it rolls by itself towards the drain and be careful not to bang your head with your new found speed. My foreman borrows everyones creeper in the shop to do quality control and calls my creeper the super creeper. Ive had them for 9 months and they are still good as new. Worth every penny

Motor Mount Inserts

Installed in an 07 focus into an aftermarket torque strut from advance auto. I removed the casing and rubber mount with a hammer and punch, smoothed out any marring with a rasp, cleaned the strut and new bushings with dishsoap then pushed in the bushings. The design of these bushings compensates for variation in the ID of the strut so it can be installed in an aftermarket part. This is a stock daily driver, some vibration comes through but overall its much smoother.

The bushings themselves seem very high quality and I have heard from multiple sources that they are great. However, for these bushings to be installed you have to reuse the inner and outer sleeves from the factory bushings. The outer sleeve to me isnt a very big deal as the rubber separates fairly easily with some heat. The problem is for the inner sleeve you have to grind a little bit of the sleeve to also use the factory washers. You have to heat the inner sleeve until you can finally separate the rubber. It doesnt sound like that big of a deal, but it took me probably around a extra 2.5 hours to get everything out and prepped. If I would have known that I would have happily paid the extra money to go with a different company that provides the inner sleeves and washers, just because of the hassle it was. On the other hand, they feel like high quality bushings and once theyre in theyre amazing. Its just the ridiculous tearing down to reuse old hardware that gets me, especially for the price these are compared to what competing manufactures put out, that provide everything. Editors note: Most polyurethane bushing kits are this way. In your case for the lower control arm bushings you have to reuse the inner sleeve and washers. Because of the washer design it would be hard to manufacture. Most polyurethane bushing kits you have to reuse the outer shell, inner sleeves and washers.

The parts do not have the metal washers on the inside of the mount like OEM. Originally i thought it would be fine, but just recently we have replaced the mounts and they wore the hole out on the cab, because the metal was not there to keep in place, also difficult to tell when bad. The service technician glances at them and they look good, but cannot tell the the inside is shot and wearing out the cab itself. Thought was a good idea, but all most all we have put in have failed and been removed in two years and we are trying another brand with metal insides. They are nice engine mounts except for the fact that the plates that sandwich the inserts are pretty much unusable. The direction say to bend and force the plate to match the insert but it really shouldnt have to be that difficult. I was hoping it would a direct replacement and its not. So there should be new plates provided with the new inserts or make that actual insert to fit like the OEM one did. Editors Note: In the instructions it does say that the outer clamshell could bend or deform. and that is normal. These inserts are designed for the OEM clam shell. Since these vehicles are over 20-25 years the likely hood the the metal clam shell is OEM would be suspect.

This was a DIY project for me. My truck is a 2012 Ford F-350, 6.7L Powerstroke Diesel, 4x4, Crewcab Dually Lariat with under 30K miles. Factory bushings were disintegrated! I could feel and hear metal on metal while going over bumps and during turns. My first impression was that it was the shocks and springs, not the cab mounts. I later found out that the cab mount bushings were bad. Not knowing that the bushings actually give you a smooth ride I just bought the middle of the road priced bushings. One of the youtube videos I watched for howto instructions recommended "Energy Suspension". The price looked good in comparison to others. The package arrived on time and undamaged. The job for the untrained which was me, kicked my butt! Trying to avoid any collateral damage, it took me a while to complete. But, I did it! Which was a major accomplishment for me in consideration to the problems I kept running into. After everything got put back together I thought for sure it was going to be perfect like when I first bought the truck brand new back in 2012. My truck used to ride like a Cadillac. Even though it was a dually it rode smooth. Not anymore, not with these bushings. I can feel the smallest bump on the road. Although, I do not feel and hear any metal on metal grinding anymore. That problem for sure is fixed. Which is the main reason why I changed the bushings out. I believe these bushings will last the life of the vehicle. Pretty solid rubber material, whatever its made of. I just wished it had some flexibility to it. It would make the ride more comfortable like it used to before. It makes sense why Ford placed those soft foam bushings on the vehicle and why it rode so smoothly. Although, the factory bushings are a defect because it fell apart shortly after the warrantee ended. Big money for repair or big DIY job which is in my opinion totally unnecessary. I spent $250 for the entire Energy Suspension Bushing Set. The Energy Suspension bushings fit perfectly on the existing factory bushing hardware. The top bushing fit right into the frame slot. Installation back on the truck fit excellent! Its just the ride. So, my suggestion to the boys at Energy Suspension is to make it a little softer, add some flexibility to the material to absorb the bumps. Im sure the ride would be perfect then. I dont know if you can have both soft flexibility and long lasting. It might be one or the other. In the meantime, my truck is fixed which is totally awesome and well see how long I can tolerate the ride. Doing it again is just a pain in the butt. But, who knows? I could do it again with a different bushing or an improved Energy Suspension Bushing. Hopefully, I didnt offend anyone here and I apologize for the long story.

I drive an 04 Cadillac with no upgrades to the suspension AWD. But once I did that the parts fit perfect and it feels as if I have a brand new truck. Overall I am very satisfied nothing is perfect

Got 3k miles on it so far and no squeaks I pushed out the old bushings with a propane torch and a ball joint press, cleaned the old components, then sanded the surfaces that contact the bushings with 80grit. I also greased the heck outta the bushings and mating surfaces with the extra tub I bought using a lint-free detailing brush to keep the SUPER STICKY grease uncontaminated. There is increased vibration and feedback due to the harder material. But its not bad at all. Its actually quite nice and the cornering response is noticeably better. \nEverything fit, arrived on time, no noise like some people complain about. Also, the instructions were thorough enough to follow and addressed all considerations and questions I had. Having done a lot of suspension work, this is much easier to remove and install than the standard bonded rubber variety.

All components appear to be well made and consistent through batches and different products. Installation was easy and Im looking forward to these lasting quite some time. The slop in the suspension is gone, which is great, but some of that was likely due to changing upper and lower ball joints. However, after liberal application and use of the supplied grease, the front upper / lower control arm bushings began squeaking after a month. I recall reading that standard maintenance was to grease them again after a few years, but that would require dismantling the front end. That also means having an alignment performed, which, in my opinion, is not standard maintenance. Ive also seen that adding a single layer of teflon tape to the steel sleeve and urethane bushing (followed by the supplied grease) may be the solution to the squeaks, but I dont plan on taking this apart for quite some time. Honestly, I hate these high-rated poly mounts lol.. my axles vibrate and knock too loud. Editors Note. This kit is a motor mount insert. The inserts fit into the voids of the OEM Mounts. Since it fills the voids the engine vibration will be felt. It is almost like installing a solid mount. The plus side is that the engine and trans will stay in place when mashing the gas. Being my install was on a 79 k-10 it was a snap! Once I removed the old bushings, which was a huge pain. I cleaned the spring eyes well with a flap wheel, blew them out with air and then with a spray cleaner. Pre-lubed the new bushings and installed. I have nothing bad to say about the body mounts. They were a perfect fit and got rid of squeaks and banging and all sorts of other weird sounds. The only problem I had was getting the old ones off. That sucked. Getting the bolts out was easy with a little heat from the map torch, the problem was the upper and lower shells were rusted together. Particularly the very rearmost position. Once the old ones were out and part it didnt take 45 minutes per side to put them back. \nI knew the job would suck, thats why Ive put it off, but your body mounts worked out great. Plus theyre hard to find for that year Explorer.

The rear suspension bushings on my motorhome had disintegrated and I installed this set. The new bushings fit well and are performing well with no squeaks. I performed the installation myself in my driveway with a hydraulic floor jack to assist in removing and reinstalling the relatively heavy anti sway bar. You do need to press some of the bushings into the brackets, but since it was Sunday and no machine shops were open I popped them into place using the stock Ford bolts into their corresponding brackets using a bench vice. One suggestion is to order additional packets of their suspension grease (which I fortunately had done), as it is inexpensive and the amount that they provide is quite minimal.

Or at least, its not so much a bushing as a little ball and socket from the factory that gets pushed out and swapped with a bushing that unlike the rest of the kit, fits quite poorly. Im sure this is for safety reasons, however at some point, I will most likely. Be going back and finding an OEM part to swap for it.\nThat aside, and it truly is just nitpicking, its fantastic for the cash spent, has held up well, provided excellent rigidity, and was easy to install because of the fantastic instructions.

Customer service, product quality and installation instructions were excellent. \nIn the absence of access to a press or other dedicated equipment for removal of the control arm bushings, I found a simple technique was to use a drill and hole saw a little smaller than the ID of the metal shell, to cut the center out of the bushing. The residual old rubber was easily peeled off the steel shell (which was left undamaged if reuse was intended). The steel shell was then easily removed using a hammer and bushing driver..

Was the final piece of the puzzle to figuring out my suspension wander and mystery clunk. If you have not replaced your rear control arms or bushings on your 3rd gen DO IT. I guarantee you they are junk and need to be replaced. One other thing I can guarantee is that they will be a total pain to replace. Removing the arms themselves is not difficult at all, but pressing the old bushings out was not easy. It may have gone easier if I had a specific bushing press, but I do have the old Snap-On BJP1, and that wasnt enough. had to take it to the hydraulic press and scare me with the amount of force it took to get those bad boys to move. Much more difficult than the front lower control arms. This kit was a DREAM to install after getting those old ones out. No instructions included, but you dont need them, they just pop together like a nice little kit, the lubricant it came with is the highest quality I have ever seen in a pack-in. My expectations were more than exceeded, I recommend it to everyone.

Usually, the OEM shells are in good shape unless you live in an area that uses salt and chemicals to clear the road of snow and ice.

The outer control arm to-control bar bushings are still working fine. I keep them slathered in silicone paste. Mostly to prevent corrosion of the attached metal parts. Low winter temperatures are tough on Polyurethane bushings. In February, at minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit, I wonder about the durometer of the bushing. For this reason, I do not use the inner control arm bushings. Low winter temperatures and corrosive road salt favor using the factory rubber inner bushings. The front suspension of the Saturn S-Series is itself a compromise.

More grease packaged with the bushings would be nice. Because of this I will give you a rating of 4. However Ill change that to a 5 since one of you guys (sorry I dont remember your name) mentioned using WD-40 for removing excess grease from tools.

This was a DIY project for me. My truck is a 2012 Ford F-350, 6.7L Powerstroke Diesel, 4x4, Crewcab Dually Lariat with under 30K miles. Factory bushings were disintegrated! I could feel and hear metal on metal while going over bumps and during turns. My first impression was that it was the shocks and springs, not the cab mounts. I later found out that the cab mount bushings were bad. Not knowing that the bushings actually give you a smooth ride I just bought the middle of the road priced bushings. One of the youtube videos I watched for howto instructions recommended "Energy Suspension". The price looked good in comparison to others. The package arrived on time and undamaged. The job for the untrained which was me, kicked my butt! Trying to avoid any collateral damage, it took me a while to complete. But, I did it! Which was a major accomplishment for me in consideration to the problems I kept running into. After everything got put back together I thought for sure it was going to be perfect like when I first bought the truck brand new back in 2012. My truck used to ride like a Cadillac. Even though it was a dually it rode smooth. Not anymore, not with these bushings. I can feel the smallest bump on the road. Although, I do not feel and hear any metal on metal grinding anymore. That problem for sure is fixed. Which is the main reason why I changed the bushings out. I believe these bushings will last the life of the vehicle. Pretty solid rubber material, whatever its made of. I just wished it had some flexibility to it. It would make the ride more comfortable like it used to before. It makes sense why Ford placed those soft foam bushings on the vehicle and why it rode so smoothly. Although, the factory bushings are a defect because it fell apart shortly after the warrantee ended. Big money for repair or big DIY job which is in my opinion totally unnecessary. I spent $250 for the entire Energy Suspension Bushing Set. The Energy Suspension bushings fit perfectly on the existing factory bushing hardware. The top bushing fit right into the frame slot. Installation back on the truck fit excellent! Its just the ride. So, my suggestion to the boys at Energy Suspension is to make it a little softer, add some flexibility to the material to absorb the bumps. Im sure the ride would be perfect then. I dont know if you can have both soft flexibility and long lasting. It might be one or the other. In the meantime, my truck is fixed which is totally awesome and well see how long I can tolerate the ride. Doing it again is just a pain in the butt. But, who knows? I could do it again with a different bushing or an improved Energy Suspension Bushing. Hopefully, I didnt offend anyone here and I apologize for the long story.

There are a lot of issues with these bushings, some are not the manufacturers fault, others - are. And I am not talking about price - this is something the buyer at least knows in advance.\n\n1. Their claim that all it takes is "some smoke from the bushing to separate the sleeves from rubber" is an outright lie. It may be the case with a jeep but certainly not with Toyota - you need to torch it for a long time to actually burn rubber off.\n\n2. The fact that they dont provide sleeves with the bushings is simply ridiculous. Especially considering the price. In fact, I would not mind paying extra so that I did not have to dissect the old bushings, and the first issue is minor compared to this one. It is pretty common for bolts/sleeves to freeze in bushings so its virtually impossible to separate them from inner bushing sleeves without damaging them. \nIt may not be an issue with jeeps and fords because their bushings are replaced on a regular basis but Toyota bushings last so long that its practically unavoidable to face this. In my case, the truck is 17 yo with 230,000 miles, and the original bushings were still good. The only reason I had to replace them was the installation of a lift and JBA upper control arms that required alignment that couldnt be performed because - you guessed it - one bolt and one cam sleeve were frozen. After 17 years in the Midwest and N-E, it should not come as a surprise.\nThis condition requires a hell of a lot of heating and pounding, pounding and heating, and then its a real PITA to attach the [original] washers to most likely damaged bushing sleeves.\n\n3. The last issue is design - there are no lubrication means. And dont tell me its impossible - just look at JBA upper control arms. I installed grease fitting in control arm ears and drilled holes in the bushings to allow grease flow to inner sleeves. Hope it will work.\n\nOverall, bushing material is probably adequate but pure inexcusable greed that prevented the manufacturer from providing lower bushing sleeves and washers (even for extra $$) is beyond ridiculous. \nBottom line: if your vehicle is 10+ yo and has spent that time in places where winter happens every year, expect MAJOR (BIGLY!) hassle installing these bushings. Or - MUCH BETTER OPTION - buy from another manufacture that does provide all necessary components. Editors Note: Issue 1: The rubber is vulcanized to the outer shell and inner sleeve. Sometimes it does take more heat to separate the rubber bushing from the outer shell. The inner sleeve is harder to remove. Most customers cut the rubber away and use a wire wheel to remove the rest of the rubber left over. \nIssue 2: The outer shells are very hard to manufacture. It would make the kit very expensive to add the outer shells and the special washers required. Living in any area that uses salt and chemicals to clear the roads in the wintertime adds to the issues as far as removing hardware. Any mechanic or DIY knows this. \nIssue 3: Because you are using OEM control arms you would have to drill a hole in the control arm and bushing. You could do this but it will void the warranty on the bushing.
